I was advised that swimming/walking in water is ideal as it emulates massage. Stockings off. Also told not to go in the sauna or the warmer 'relax' pool. Too much heat detrimental.

Right on Cleo...couldn't have said it better :!: :)

The water is like the gentle massage in CDT or MLD...does wonders for the legs. I also do not swimm with any compression garments or wraps on.

Not only is the heat from a sauna or hot tub too much, but the risk of bacterial infection is also to great.

The only caveat is be careful of lakes in the summer. For example, here in Georgia, I dare not swim in Lake Lanier because of the bacterial count - I used to love Alatoona, but it too now actually has been given a bacterial warning in Summer.
