difference between stage 1 & 2 lymphedema

Postby pipp » Sun Dec 10, 2006 5:53 pm

I'm a bit stuck really. I've had lymphedema in my right leg since I was 16 through a rugby injury. I'm now 23 and have seen countless amounts of doctors and they all tell me I have lymphedema but I'm not sure whether it is class 1 or class 2. It's been seven years now and I'm really scratching my head.

Could anyone help me out?

Hey Pip

Here is our page on the stages of Lymphedema:

Stages of Lymphedema

http://www.lymphedemapeople.com/thesite ... stages.htm

The real difference between stage 1 and stage 2 will be in how it changes during the night. Does the swelling go down substantially?

Also, if you push a finger into it, does it leave a "dent?"

What does the skin look like? Stage one has much more normal looking skin then stage 2.

Take a look and if you have ny add'l questions, let me know.
