Clotrimazole is used to treat yeast infections of the vagina, mouth, and skin such as athlete's foot, jock itch, and body ringworm. It can also be used to prevent oral thrush in certain patients.


(klōtrim´zōl´), n brand names: Lotrimin, Canesten, Gyne-Lotrimin, Mycelex-7, Mycelex Troches; drug class: inidazole antiinfective; action: interferes with fungal DNA replication; uses: tinea pedis, tinea cruris, tinea corporis, tinea vesicolor, and C. albicans infection of the oral cavity, pharynx, vulva, and vagina.

A broad-spectrum antifungal drug used topically to treat a variety of superficial fungal infections, including candidiasis and tinea.
