A yellow elastic fibrous mucoprotein that is the major protein of elastic structures such as blood vessels.

(2) A protein found with collagen in the dermis that is responsible for giving structure to your skin and organs. Protein similar in structure to collagen and is chief constituent of elastic fibers embedded in extracellular matrix. The fibrous components form an elastic network to uniformly maintain the resilience and elastic properties to local tissue requirements.
